COMMUNITY GROUPS ARE WHERE WE BUILD FRIENDSHIPS AND GROW SPIRITUALLY IN COMMUNITY
“And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts.” – Acts 2:46
WHAT ARE COMMUNITY GROUPS?
Community Groups are the primary space within the church where we build friendships, point people to Jesus, care for each others’ practical needs, and where we witness the one another lifestyle of believers described in the Bible (John 15; Romans 12).
All of our Community Groups are similar in format and in structure. Each group meets weekly to eat, pray, and unpack the Biblical text and sermon from Sunday’s message.
Groups are open to newcomers. Community Groups are safe spaces for those who would like to experience what community life within the church looks like.
THE BIG IDEA
When Jesus said to make disciples in Matthew 28:19, he had the church in mind: the people. The Bible teaches that the Christian life is not meant to be lived in isolation, but rather, like a family, is meant to be lived in community with others.
In Matthew 4:19 when Jesus invites his disciples to follow him, he says, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”. This was not only an extraordinary invitation into relationship with Hhim but also an invitation to live as Jesus lived. Making disciples means helping people meet Jesus, love Jesus, and grow in Jesus in a way that others would then go and do the same. Community Groups are the place where deeper discipling relationships can be created and fostered.
