Let present privilege awaken us to present duty, and now, while life lasts, let us spend and be spent for our sweet Lord Jesus. - Charles Spurgeon
Amos' message is relevant, humbling and frightening. God's people in the time of Amos' prophecy were eagerly anticipating future salvation while they were conveniently denying present sin. They were indulging in worship while they ignoring injustice. And Amos rightly calls God's people to repentance and to realign their hearts to God and work for justice.
