The story of Christianity doesn’t begin with Jesus in the manger or Jesus on the cross but with God creating the heavens and the earth.
In this sermon series entitled Eden, we will go back to the beginning, Genesis 1-3 specifically, and consider the origin of some of life’s most important features and what our response to them should be.
Over the course of this 10-week series we will consider a God-centred response to science & creation, the environment, work, rest & recreation, marriage, gender, family & procreation and finally, the problem of evil and God’s response to it.
The goal of this series is that we will see Genesis 1-3 as a section of Scripture, not to be cast aside as fable and fairy-tale, but as a guide and gift that ultimately drives us to God and helps us make sense of the world and our part in it.
God – Genesis 1:1
In this introduction sermon we unpack the implications of Genesis for our everyday lives, the barriers to this series ( time, culture, science, etc.) and 3 amazing truths about ultimate reality and almighty God from the first verse, Genesis 1:1.
God & Light – Genesis 1:2-5
God is a God of new beginnings. In this sermon we unpack the first day of creation looking at where God begins, speaking light into what's dark. It's in these first few verses we learn many of the themes of Scripture and what God is going to do in and through Jesus.
God & Creation – Genesis 1:6-25
In this sermon we’ll unpack Genesis 1:6-25 and take a look at what the first 6 days of creation reveal about God’s attributes and purpose in creating, and see how the creation account free’s us to live with more freedom and consistency than anyone else on the planet.

God & The Garden – Genesis 2:4-17
This week we will take a look at Genesis 2 and unpack Eden as it is revealed for the first time. We'll examine God's original plan and design, and follow it through to today where we’ll examine God’s commissioning to ‘work’ and ‘keeping’ the garden in our modern context.
God & Marriage – Genesis 2:18-25
In this week’s message, we go back to the first marriage of the Bible – the marriage of Adam and Eve. A marriage that Jesus points back to in Matthew 19 as serving as the prototype for all marriages to come.
God & The Fall – Genesis 3:1-7
In this week's sermon we come to the entrance of sin into creation. We will look at the pattern of thought and action that led to the rejection of the Creator, how it repeats itself even today, and how we can be free from it.
God & The Gospel – Genesis 3:20-24
In this sermon we unpacked what God has done to be our Rescuer. We saw how God guards us from allowing sin to rule in us forever, His plan to provide us what we needed to be forgiven, (a substitute) so that we can be clothed, and one day through Jesus, be brought back to Eden.
God & Sin’s Effect – Genesis 3:8-19
