Flourishing In Self Isolation
The psalmists are masterful at grieving their losses, accessing their deep emotion, and processing their pain while at the same time pulling into their circumstances the nature and beauty of God. Too often it's easy for us to “know” about God, “know” it’s good to process, to “worship”, but in reality we don’t do it with him. The Psalms help us flourish by pointing our raw unfiltered emotions towards God in Worship. In this sermon series we examine how we can process our life with the Bigness of God.
With our loss of the sense of majesty has come the further loss of religious awe and consciousness of the divine Presence. We have lost our spirit of worship and our ability to withdraw inwardly to meet God in adoring silence. Modern Christianity is simply not producing the kind of Christian who can appreciate or experience the life in the Spirit. The words, “Be still, and know that I am God,” mean next to nothing to the self-confident, bustling worshipper in this middle period of the twentieth century. - AW TOZER
