This Is Love
1 John 5:1-21
As we wrap up this letter of John we’ll take a look at what the Christians hope is evidenced by, centred on, as well as 3 things that are uniquely theirs as partakers of the new covenant life offered by Jesus.
1 John 4:7-21
In this sermon we unpack what is clogging our love for God and one another. We look at what it means that God is Love and how important it is that "love" be defined by God and what He’s done through Christ. Lastly, we look at how we can love without fear of loosing relationships and the impact that could make in a church.
1 John 4:1-6
In this sermon we unpack the truth that not everyone claiming to speak in the name of God actually does and why its important to test the spirits to see whether they are from God.
1 John 3:11-24
In this sermon we look at what true love is, as God defines it as well as what its not. We also unpack how jealousy and anger keep us from loving God's truth and his people. Lastly, we unpack what it would look like to be the kind of church marked by Jesus' love that gives our stuff away to those in need. Put another way, how would the Shore Church look if we obey'd 1 John 3:17-18: But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? And Acts 4:32-35: Now the full number of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one said that any of the things that belonged to him was his own, but they had everything in common.
1 John 2:28-3:10
In this sermon we look at the outstanding love that is ours as children of God. We unpack what it looks like to believe we are dearly loved by the Father and what happens when we don't. Furthermore, we unpack what it means to have a future hope in Jesus appearing and how Jesus in us is changing our everyday practices.
1 John 2:15-27
As John continues on his his command and instruction to love, this week we encounter John commanding believers NOT to love something as well: The World! But if God ’so loved the world that he sent his only son’, why are believers instructed NOT to love the world? We’ll examine what John means by the world and discuss some ways that believers can more fully engage with the life the Jesus came to give.
1 John 2:7-14
In this sermon we unpack what it looks like to speak the truths of Jesus into each others lives and why its so important at every age to be affirmed by the Gospel.
1 John 2:1-6
1 John 1:5-10
In this sermon we unpack what it means that God is Light and the implications that would have in every genuine Christian.
John wants us to know how much God loves us, is ready to forgive us while at the same time is clear to say If God is light and you’re walking in darkness, you’re not walking with God. In this message we examine two evidences of genuine faith.
