Kids & Family Director

The Shore Church is looking for a Kids & Family Director who loves Jesus, loves kids and loves developing teachers and volunteers. This position is a  full time time role overseeing our Kids Ministry.

HOURS PER WEEK: 40hours 

Official Office hours: Tuesday and Sunday 

Key Responsibilities: 


  • Parent communication
  • Prepare curriculum and supplies for Sunday gatherings, lesson review/editing as needed
  • Communication with team leaders and volunteers as needed
  • Regular communication with office and ministry manager
  • Keep track of Kids Ministry supplies and budget
  • Oversee scheduling, and ongoing tweaking as needs arise.
  • Web updates
  • Volunteer recruitment, and screening including application review, reference checks, process crime checks, interview, and on sight orientation


  • Set up and teardown of Kids Ministry space
  • Ensure that classrooms are set up with necessary supplies and teaching materials
  • Connect with and pray for volunteers
  • Greet families and welcome new visitors
  • Class oversight of all age groups
  • Oversight of check in and check out for Kids Ministry
  • Ensure that safety and security protocols are in place
  • Teach in a kids class twice per month where needed, visit classes to provide feedback
  • Volunteer interviews, new volunteer orientation


  • Vision for Kids Ministry
  • Team discipleship, encouragement, and direction
  • Team member recruitment and training
  • Regular orientation/abuse prevention (police procedure)training for all new volunteers as needed.
  • Annual “refresher” training every September on operational procedures
  • Training meetings (January) on helpful topics (teaching kids, sharing the gospel with kids, prayer, classroom management)
  • One on one meetings as needed
  • Personal development.
  • Plan and execute seasonal events (Easter Egg Hunt, Day Camps)
  • Develop and plan for additional events as the ministry grows (Kids Club, Fall Carnival)

Experience & Skills

Leading and giving direction to a team
Teaching children ages 0-12

Self-motivated with the ability to work without constant supervision
Outstanding interpersonal skills – works well with others
Ability to communicate lovingly and professionally with team members and families
Enthusiastic and creative team leader who is willing to work with current staff and volunteers

Personal Qualifications

Follower of Jesus having recognized and repented of personal sin
Baptized as a sign of death to self and life in Jesus
Life must clearly demonstrate a high level of spiritual maturity
Growing in Christ-likeness through spiritual disciplines – prayer, giving, fasting, worship
Clear sense of God’s calling to ministry at The Shore Church
Agreement with the Shore Church’s mission, core values, and statement of faith
