Fall registration for our community groups is now open!
We encourage you to reach out and connect to our group leaders.
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.
– John 13:34-35
What is a Community Group?
A group of individuals that gathers, cares for, encourages, challenges, and builds one another up into the good works they each have been given.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
– Ephesians 2:10
What is the vision of Community Groups?
To make disciples of Jesus by way of interpersonal relationships.
- Evangelize – the unbeliever to belief in Jesus
- Disciple – the believer to maturity
- Community – to live out the “one anothers” of Scripture – HERE
How do Community Groups do this?
Look toward God.
We will pursue God and grow in our love for Jesus. This may sound simple, but in our fallen world people seek to become their own gods. We often seek to live apart from God, preferring our independence over a relationship with our Creator. But through the Gospel, Jesus transforms our hearts and moves us to a place where we recognize God as Father, Saviour, and indwelling Holy Spirit! It becomes our joy to know, serve, and worship Him (Ephesians 2:1-3; 2 Cor 5:17).
Look toward others.
Love one another. This means sharing each other’s burdens, knowing one another, praying for each other, and forgiving each other as Christ forgave us. New people are not left out, but drawn in as they experience the family of God living in light of the Gospel (John 13:35; Acts 2:42- 47, 1 Thessalonians 5:11).
Look toward God’s mission.
To share and be on mission – to make Jesus known. We are a family on God’s mission together. Our shared mission is made up of a neighbourhood or a network of people. For example: neighbours who live on your block or in your school district, young families with kids, single parents, coaches, college students, or recovering addicts. This mission is a blessing to be a part of, as we get to take part in God’s redemptive work in people’s lives (Matthew 28:18-20; 2 Corinthians 5:20).
Are you in need of community?
We encourage you to reach out to one of our community group leaders who will help you get connected. We look forward to meeting you and getting to know you soon.
“The call to live in community is essential. Studies have shown that when individuals isolate from one another, various emotional, social, physical, and spiritual effects ensue. The church is not a building, the church is a gathered people. In Hebrews we are exhorted,
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
– Hebrews 10:23-25
I hope to see you in one of our Community Groups soon!”
